In the past decade INDIA has proved to be the unanimous destination for outsourcing computer animation, IT, web design, graphics development work etc. Such a huge development of the economy would require great number of professionals to make it possible. A few years back on 27th may 1999 three visionaries decided to take the challenge of training such individuals. XDS accelerated the process of multimedia education in India by introducing India's 1st one year comprehensive program in multimedia (PGDM) in Jan 2001 with a curriculum that provides cutting edge technology & latest software under a practical learning environment, designed for college students, working graduates and professionals. This is the most comprehensive program covering 15 software. The most in-depth curriculum starting from fundamentals to the most advanced Animation Skills..

XDS now takes India and South East Asia Multimedia Education Scenario to new heights by the introduction to the IPGD-A program, spanning over 18 months this program is designed using REM which takes inputs from over 750 multimedia companies across India & BCIT Vancouver Canada. Additionally, students are taught the basics like forms, space, colors, typography, illustration, photography, motion, character design, videography, film language etc.

Introduction to Animation
Animation can be defined as a process of simulating life like in computer generated imaginary (CGI). It is stack of page normally known as frames, where every frame is slightly different than preceding frame. When projected at very fast rate of this frames, it simulates motion effect. This industry has seen a major uplift in last 10 years. India is on its way to become the hub of the animation production industry.

1. Elementary Design Skills
Introduction: Elementary Design Skills is Stepping Stone for IPDG-A. Generally it has been observed that when one learns Multimedia one gets to learn only software, but the real market requirements is not just knowing the software it is knowing how to design an application, which means that one needs to know the fundamentals of the designing, concepts and Layouting in all three streams of Multimedia from an aesthetic perspective.
Ideology: Updating one with the current market scenario of design requirements with the relevant age old universal design fundamentals.
Flow: One goes through lectures of design drawing for 2D, concepts and Layouting and Graphics concepts, covering in all 23 sessions, 6 hours per day, 19 assignments, 1 project.
Strength: Understanding of Design, Concept & Visualization

2. Technical Foundation
Introduction: Foundation is the stepping-stone to Technical expertise in Multimedia. This stream is equivalent to Certification in all 3 streams of Multimedia OR a Diploma program in Multimedia
Ideology: Foundation believes in introducing one to Multimedia Software and then aims at one gaining a very strong knowledge of these software.
Flow: One starts off with Graphic software, followed by Animation and then Web & E Commerce covering in all 7 software, 80 learning sessions, 80 practice sessions, a total of 225 hours, 33 assignments, 2 mini projects, 1 projects.
Strength: Most widely used Graphics, Animation and Web & E Commerce software prevalent in the industry are taught in this module along with industry picked assignments and tutorials.
Your Gain: Student gets to work independently on 7 varied and diverse software, which act as the building blocks to his multimedia future and subsequently using them at a faster speed so as to reduce time and increase work efficiency.

3. Advance Design Skills
Introduction: The moment one gains strong know-how of software usage along with fundamental design skills it is the right time to introduce one to advance designing skills that will crystallize the previous learnings. Here one gets to learn the actual skills normally taught in Fine Arts programs, this is one of the strong pillars for an enhanced multimedia career.
Ideology: Principles of Advance Design skills II is to make a student grasp and apply all the skills of designing, programming and animation.
Flow: Advance Design Skills II comes after foundation in graphics. Lectures on Commercial graphics, Sketching, Advertising and Calligraphy are part of Advance Design Skills II. 12 sessions, 36 hours theory, 36 hours practical, 1 Project.
Strength: An integration of Fine Arts skills happens in this stream along with the previous Design & Software skills.
Your Gain: Students learns Commercial graphics, Sketching, Advertising and Calligraphy. Assignments on concepts building, sketching, various type of application from the ad media and art of writing are some of the benefits.

Introduction: Specialization is the back bone of IPDG-A. This is the most comprehensive and extensive module in IPDG-A. This program provides specialization and then a super specialization in any one stream of Multimedia i.e. Animation.
Ideology: Specialization and subsequently super specialization believes in giving mastery and proficiency in the latest and top of the line software and technology area and then providing a working know-how of each of them.
Flow: One goes through the Specialization stream in the selected discipline and then a super specialization in the same area, covering in all 6 software, 231 sessions, 693 hours theory and 693 hours practice sessions, 48 assignments, 3 Mini projects and 1 project.
Strength: Students accomplishes expertise and gain detailed knowledge in the chosen stream. One learns advance softwares prevailing in the market; work on applications, which are broken in the form of assignments and mini projects.

5. Super Specialization
Introduction: Specialization is the finest stream of IPGD-A. This is the final and extensive stream in IPGD-A. This program provides super specialization Animation as per the 3D production pipe line.
Ideology: Super Specialization believes in giving mastery and proficiency in the latest and top of the line software and technology area and then providing a working know-how of each of them..
Flow: One goes through the Super Specialization stream in the selected discipline and then a super specialization in the same area, covering in all 4 software, 146 sessions, 438 hours theory and 438 hours practice sessions, 30 assignments, and 1 project.
Strength: Students accomplish expertise and gain final knowledge in the animation stream. One learns advance software like Maya apart from being an expert in MAX and composting software prevailing in the market; work on applications which are broken in the form of assignment and project. All three when combined makes an animation application.

6. Management
Introduction: Management is required in every stage of life. This stream is equally important along with computer skill, because however strong one may be in technical know-how yet if one is not competent to work in a team and with superiors then all that knowledge goes a waste. Here the student will be working on how to attain leadership, team spirit, human values and various other management skills along with practical usage of latest equipments & gadgets commonly used in multimedia industry.
Ideology: This stream is designed to accomplish our primary objective that each of our students becomes a complete multimedia professional, professional with excellent technical as well as human skills.
Flow: This stream begins with management concepts and then moves ahead to cover concepts and practical applicability of Costing & Pricing of Multimedia Products & Services, Portfolio designing creation of show reels, Resume making, covering in all 15 sessions, 46 hours, 5 assignments.
Strength: One becomes a complete multimedia professional by gaining human skills and softer skills related to multimedia industry.

7. Industry Project / Internship
Introduction: Industry Project / Internship give chance to work according to industry norms by working on industrial projects and as a professional.
Ideology: This module gives an edge to enter the industry.
Flow: This is the one of the concluding program of IPDG-A. One works on live industrial projects with complete industry methods and environment, covering in all 22 sessions, 132 hours,
Strength: Students become strong and confident enough to enter the market with complete technical skills and practical knowledge of industry in terms of various applications.
Your Gain: One gets a chance to pick up a project from industry and get an exposure to industry before he actually goes and works. This program also has industry visits for students.

Industrial Project is a very important term in Xplora. Here one gets to choose from 31 industry picked projects. One works for 1 months on internship. This is an extensive term that drills and grooms each student as per the industry requirement and norms. Student gets advantage of client interaction. Student works on collecting information, storyboarding, practical work and finally
making a presentation. The objective of super specialization is to prepare student for the industry. He gets an actual environment of industry right at the premises. Apart from this he gets to learn and work upon 3 skills, Quality, Time & Attitude, which are a must in the industry. In the end we succeed in building what we say “A complete multimedia professional.”

8. Industry Project Evaluation
Introduction: A proper and well knit evaluation criteria builds self esteem and encourages one to work harder and grow further. Evaluation is a must for any program, but at XDS evaluation takes a unique shape, we aim at helping one in truly gaining an expertise and not just academic know-how, thus detailed criteria to access overall growth in all areas is done, with an objective to improve an individual rather then judge him. It allows one to access you work according to the industry standards. It gives clear understanding of where the student stands and where he has to excel.

One achieves perfection in what one does, become confident in presenting, and gain strong theoretical aptitude gaining strength in all of these, Creativity, Quality, Time Management and Attitude.
  1. Assignments
    Assignments assess on a daily bases ones development in software so as to get more precise idea to work with the tools of the software. This gives a hand on experience to work in accordance with the industry. Special attention is given upon designing, developing, practicality, and technical aspects of the assignments. Each software stream covers an exhaustive number of assignments. There are in all approximately 25 – 30 assignments covered during the entire program depending upon the stream one chooses.
  2. Mini Project
    These are in-between assignments and projects and have to be done in a short period of time where in ones time management as well as technical skills are tested.
  3. Projects
    Projects are given at the stream end so as they can prepare the final end product with all the softwares they have learned. Projects are an access to a complete industry based application. We provide a unique opportunity to all our students to acquire technical knowledge and its applications to new and upcoming areas of industry requirements through projects. Live industrial projects are given to students at the end of each stream.
  4. Presentation
    One needs to present assignment, mini project, projects before a panel of faculty as well as students in order to enhance ones oratory skills as well as use of modern gadgets and equipments in the same manner in which a multimedia industry professional presents ones work before a client.
  5. Viva
    One gets to learn to be street smart and on ones toes when answering questions put orally, this develops instantaneous response and confidence when working and presenting ones ideas in a group or at meetings.
  6. Written Exam
    These are offered after each software and provide a judgment of ones theoretical and conceptual skills.
9. Research Opportunities at XDS
Introduction: Research options at XDS have been introduced to give an environment to the students for further Research & Development. This is a higher level of specialization of IPGD-A where one can work on parallel software, advanced technologies and current market demands. This stream can also be chosen by one as stand alone stream i.e. it is not necessary to do IPGD-A.
Ideology: This program believes in enriching the students with the Research and Development that they can do being at XDS thus empowering them with the future of Graphics, Animation & Web.
Your Gain: By choosing any one area of research one can satisfy ones hunger to the maximum in the field of multimedia and go even higher than being a specialized professional in multimedia.
Areas of Research:
  1. Cell Animation: This is the prevailing technology used in the market for the animation. The best example that can be given is the cartoon movies. Here the student learns how to create cell animation right from the basic to final movie. It includes the lectures related to the drawing for the 2D animation with the light box. Conversion of the raw data into the digital files, synchronize the frames according to the story board. Technically working on the software, recording and synchronizing sound to the movie, rendering for the final output.
  2. Maya Animation: Maya is the most happening software in the world of 3D animation software. It has its own unique feature and an interface to work with. It is widely used in commercial media and film industry. Here student will be learning the complete Maya. This will help student to work in any type of 3D environment in the industry.
